Sergio Yanes has been teaching English for 7 years and Journalism for 3 years at Lawton Chiles High School in Tallahassee, FL. Currently, he teaches AP English Language and Honors/Gifted level English, and he is the yearbook adviser. He also serves as the Co-Chair of the Technology Committee at his school and is a lead trainer in Instructional Technology for Leon County Schools, where he provides teacher support and professional development in 21st century literacies and digital tools. He also serves as a reviewer of online professional development materials for the district, and he is a Microsoft Innovative Educator Trainer. Sergio earned a BA in English Education from FSU in 2006, and an MS in English Education in 2009, where he focused on assessment and 21st century literacy.
Current topics of interest include flipped/blended instruction, project-based learning, inquiry-based learning, and collaboration.
